What's included
Your Away Day/Flight Discovery Day will take place at Peterborough Business Airfield (Conington). Built during WWII by US Army Engineers to house ‘Flying Fortress’ bombers, and housing 2900 personnel, Conington has since shrunk to a small airfield. But don’t be fooled by its size. It is very busy with both planes and helicopters flying in and out, so just by being there you’ll soak up some of the buzz.
Our Flying School at Conington is run by Mike Horrell. Mike is one of the most experienced helicopter pilots in the UK and with 17,000 hours flying time in his pilot’s log, so you couldn’t be in safer hands.
Before take off and during the day you will get a total of two hours of comprehensive ground-briefing on the Robinson R22 helicopter. There’s a lot to learn – including how the helicopter actually works, the helicopter’s capabilities, and many of the things a pilot needs to know in order to get it off the ground and keep it in the air!
You will also get two hour’s flight time, split into two 60 minute lessons, to experience the thrill of helicopter flight during which you will take the controls of this versatile aircraft.
Your helicopter experience will definitely be a thrill to remember which is why we have so many people coming back for more and some even go on to take their helicopter’s pilot licence. Will it be you?
